I’d go to sleep, but I’m all stressed out about finding the perfect pair of leather boots to wear with the blue jeans I’ve picked out for tomorrow.

Isn’t that the kind of thing the young ladies do in their Cosmo magazines? Wait, do young ladies still read the Cosmo magazines?

My first wife once took a Cosmo quiz and found that I exhibited 11 of 12 signs of a man who is having an affair. I think scoring 10-12 meant that it was a sure thing I was foolin’ around.

I wasn’t. Maybe that marriage just made me really good at acting like I was getting laid.

Anyway, that’s how exciting my night is. It all goes downhill from here, Tim Riggins.

There’s a saying that rock ‘n’ roll is about what people do on the weekend and country is about what people do during the week. One of the best examples of the country side of this is the trucker song. There have been thousands of trucker songs (hell, Red Sovine must’ve had a couple hundred himself). My second favorite trucker song is “Six Days on the Road,” especially the Steve Earle cover version. My very favorite trucker song is this piece of awesomeness.

I’ve been repressing that thought for a few days now because of all the kindness that’s in my heart.
